To help taxpayers combat increasing property taxes, Commissioner Larry Rogers, Jr., of the Cook County Board of Review, has partnered with Representative Ken Dunkin, Representative Christian Mitchell, and Alderman Pat Dowell to host a property tax appeal community forum on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at 6:30 pm. The meeting will take place at Apostolic Faith Church, located at 3823 S. Indiana Avenue, Chicago IL.
Attendees will have the opportunity to address concerns regarding the 2013 property tax cycle. Commissioner Rogers will also assist taxpayers in submitting an appeal to he Board of Review and answer any additional questions about the appeal process. Attendees should bring their property tax bill and other evidence providing proof of their property’s value, such as a current appraisal.
Commissioner Rogers has launched an aggressive community outreach campaign in response to the property tax crisis that residents across many communities of Cook County have been facing. He stated that, “Through unemployment or underemployment, taxpayers are simply without the means to afford exorbitant tax bills.”
